Uninstall Malbec
Malbec keeps what it installs in one folder, so removing it is four steps in Finder. There is no uninstall button in the app yet. Nothing is deleted until you empty the Trash.
The games you installed through Malbec go with it. Malbec’s folder holds its own Battle.net and Steam, every game you installed in them, and the games you brought over from CrossOver. Games you added from their own folder stay where they are.
1. Free this Mac from your license
One license works on 2 Macs at a time. To free this one, open Malbec, choose Settings › License, then Deactivate This Mac. If Malbec doesn’t open any more, remove it by the link we email you: use Lost your key?, and the email has a link to manage your Macs. No license, only the trial? Skip this step.
2. Quit your games, the stores and Malbec
Quit any game that is running, then Battle.net and Steam from their own windows. Then choose Malbec › Quit Malbec.
3. Move Malbec’s folder to the Trash
In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder…, type ~/Library/Application Support/ and press Return. Drag the folder named Malbec to the Trash.
That folder has the engine, the stores and their games, your settings and Malbec’s logs. Most games keep their saves in the store’s cloud; if one of yours doesn’t, copy its saves out of the folder first.
4. Move the app to the Trash
In Finder, open Applications and drag Malbec to the Trash. When you’re sure, empty the Trash.
What stays on your Mac
- Malbec’s preferences file,
~/Library/Preferences/gg.malbec.app.plist. You can move it to the Trash too. - Caches that macOS keeps for the app, and in your Keychain your license, its activation and the key this Mac made for it. They’re small and do nothing without Malbec.
- On our server, this Mac’s free trial, if you started one: there is one free trial per Mac. We delete it 12 months after the trial ended (privacy policy).
- Rosetta 2. It is part of macOS, and other apps use it.
Coming back
Download Malbec again from the download page. Your license key is in the email we sent after you bought Malbec, and Lost your key? sends it again. For anything else, write to support@malbec.app.
